The Davis Cemetery in Dermott, Arkansas is a historic resting place for African American decendants in and around Chicot County. Birthdates on the grounds date back to the mid 1800s.
These sacred grounds are situated on County Road 221 off Skipper Bridge Road on the edge of Drew County. It runs alongside the meandering Bayou Bartholemew which was once frequented by churches hosting baptisms. As you drive into the area, two gleaming white columes welcome visitors, flanked by the monument of M.E. Davis and his wife Etta Conneliaus Davis, who together established the cemetery.
M.E. Davis Foundation has entered a service agreement to mow and trim the cemetery grounds. Services do not include replacing or resetting headstones, selling of plots, nor the opening or closing of burial sites. Your tax-deductible contribution to the ME Davis Foundation Davis Cemetery fund can help sustain and maintain this important public landmark for families for years to come.
Your support and contributions will help fund the maintenace of these sacred grounds for the community it serves for years to come.
